𝐍𝐄𝐖𝐒 | 𝐒𝐌𝐀𝐆 𝐇𝐨𝐥𝐝𝐬 𝐃𝐢𝐬𝐚𝐬𝐭𝐞𝐫 𝐏𝐫𝐞𝐩𝐚𝐫𝐞𝐝𝐧𝐞𝐬𝐬 𝐒𝐞𝐦𝐢𝐧𝐚𝐫

To equip students and personnel with important knowledge, practical skills, and appropriate actions during disaster, St. Mary’s Academy of Guagua (SMAG) conducted a 𝐃𝗶𝘀𝗮𝘀𝘁𝗲𝗿 𝐏𝗿𝗲𝗽𝗮𝗿𝗲𝗱𝗻𝗲𝘀𝘀 𝐒𝗲𝗺𝗶𝗻𝗮𝗿 on September 16, 2026.

The seminar was led by 𝐇𝐞𝐚𝐝 𝐨𝐟 𝐭𝐡𝐞 𝐌𝐮𝐧𝐢𝐜𝐢𝐩𝐚𝐥 𝐃𝐢𝐬𝐚𝐬𝐭𝐞𝐫 𝐑𝐢𝐬𝐤 𝐑𝐞𝐝𝐮𝐜𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧 𝐚𝐧𝐝 𝐌𝐚𝐧𝐚𝐠𝐞𝐦𝐞𝐧𝐭 𝐎𝐟𝐟𝐢𝐜𝐞 (𝐌𝐃𝐑𝐑𝐌𝐎) 𝐨𝐟 𝐆𝐮𝐚𝐠𝐮𝐚 𝐌𝐫. 𝐑𝐨𝐲 𝐀𝐧𝐝𝐫𝐞𝐰 𝐒𝐮𝐧𝐠𝐥𝐚𝐨, who discussed the different hazards that a community may encounter such as earthquakes, typhoons, flooding, and landslides.

Mr. Sunglao emphasized that disaster preparedness should be taken seriously, reminding students that such matters should not be taken lightly. “𝙎𝙚𝙧𝙮𝙤𝙨𝙤𝙝𝙞𝙣 𝙖𝙣𝙜 𝙢𝙜𝙖 𝙜𝙖𝙣𝙞𝙩𝙤𝙣𝙜 𝙗𝙖𝙜𝙖𝙮 𝙙𝙖𝙝𝙞𝙡 𝙖𝙣𝙜 𝙢𝙜𝙖 𝙞𝙩𝙤 𝙖𝙮 [𝙠𝙖𝙩𝙪𝙢𝙗𝙖𝙨 𝙣𝙜] 𝙗𝙪𝙝𝙖𝙮,” he stressed.

Throughout the course of the seminar, students actively participated in demonstrations and activities designed to strengthen their knowledge and readiness.

Students were shown with preparations that can be made ahead of emergencies, including the preparation of “Go” bags and essential supplies.

Mr. Sunglao also reminded students to stay updated through official channels, especially because fake advisories may circulate online.

One of the highlights of the seminar was the demonstration of the “𝗗𝗿𝗼𝗽, 𝗖𝗼𝘃𝗲𝗿, 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝗛𝗼𝗹𝗱” procedures that guided students through the proper steps to follow, giving them an opportunity to see and practice the procedure rather than simply hear about it.

With the activities completed, the seminar left the SMAG community with practical knowledge and a greater awareness of the importance of being prepared 𝗯𝗲𝗳𝗼𝗿𝗲, 𝗱𝘂𝗿𝗶𝗻𝗴, 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝗮𝗳𝘁𝗲𝗿 a disaster strikes.

Ignacian Marian learners and personnel of St. Mary’s Academy of Guagua participated in two earthquake drills—both announced and unannounced drills—on September 16, 2026, putting disaster preparedness into action.

While disasters cannot be predicted, preparedness is key to safety. During the drill, the learners practiced the prescribed Drop, Cover, and Hold procedure during the rumbling sound, as if there was an earthquake. The school community then listened to an announcement made by the Student Activity Coordinator, Mr. Angelo Yumul, informing everyone to proceed to their designated evacuation areas promptly and in an orderly manner. Throughout the drills, some personnel were assigned to specific units and performed their respective duties as if an actual earthquake had occurred. At the same time, class advisers actively assisted their students, allowing the school community to practice a coordinated emergency response. Following the drills, Assistant Principal, Mrs. Ellen R. Escober, delivered a comprehensive report detailing the activities and observations made throughout the exercise.

Through these earthquake drills, the SMAG community strengthened its readiness to respond safely and responsibly during disasters. While earthquakes may strike without warning, preparedness can begin beforehand.

A Milestone in Educational Management: SMAG’s ISO 21001:2018 Awarding of Certificate Ceremony

St. Mary’s Academy of Guagua proudly celebrated the Awarding of the ISO 21001:2018 Certificate, marking an important milestone in the school’s continuing journey toward quality and excellence in educational management.

The ceremony highlighted the school’s commitment to maintaining a quality Educational Organization Management System that puts learners and stakeholders at the heart of its processes. More than a recognition, the ISO 21001:2018 certification reflects the dedication of the administration, faculty, and staff to continuous improvement, effective educational management, and the delivery of quality education.

This achievement inspires the whole SMAG community to uphold a culture of excellence, accountability, and continuous improvement, strengthening its commitment to providing meaningful and quality learning experiences for every learner.

With profound gratitude and joy, we congratulate the Congregation of the Religious of the Virgin Mary (RVM) Guagua Community as they humbly received the Gawad Parangal from the Santa Rita de Cascia Parish as part of the Tricentennial (300 years) Founding Anniversary Celebration.

This recognition is a testament to the enduring partnership between the Parish and the Congregation of the Religious of the Virgin Mary (RVM) in nurturing faith, serving God’s people, and building a Christ-centered community.

We thank the Santa Rita de Cascia Parish for this honor and dedicate it to all the RVM Sisters past and present whose lives of prayer, service, and mission have touched countless hearts. The successful conduct of the ISO 21001:2018 Compliance Audit for the Kindergarten Program on July 3, 2026 marks another significant milestone in SMAG’s commitment to educational excellence and continuous improvement. Led by Mr. Rolando Remitar, Lead Auditor from TUV Rheinland, the audit affirmed the school’s dedication to maintaining an effective Educational Organization Management System (EOMS) that supports quality learning and learner-centered practices. This achievement reflects the collective commitment, teamwork, and readiness of the academic community in upholding the highest standards of quality education. Congratulations SMAG!

Empowering Learning Through Generosity: Armchair Donation Drive for San Pablo 2nd Elementary School

In a meaningful expression of service, St. Mary’s Academy of Guagua conducted an Armchair Donation Drive for San Pablo 2nd Elementary School, Lubao, Pampanga on June 19, 2026 aimed at providing learners with a more comfortable and conducive learning environment.

The turnover of donated armchairs was made possible through the collaborative efforts and generosity of the school community, with the support of SPES faculty members, Mr. Amiel M. Garcia and Mr. Eloy L. Quimbao.

As a gesture of gratitude and recognition, a Certificate of Appreciation was presented to Sr. Maria Lorina A. Jumawan, RVM, Directress/Principal for the school’s unwavering support and dedication to fostering educational opportunities beyond its campus.

This donation drive reflects the Marian values of compassion, stewardship, and service, demonstrating that through collective efforts, we can make a positive impact on the lives of young learners.

Strategic Planning Workshop

Day 1 (June 16, 2026)

The first day of the Strategic Planning Workshop, held on June 16, 2026, provided lay administrators with valuable insights into the importance of strategic planning in achieving organizational goals and sustaining growth. The session was facilitated by Dr. Cynthia C. Arcadio who served as the Resource Person.

St. Mary’s Academy of Guagua conducted a Book Donation Drive for San Roque Dau High School, headed by their Principal Dr. Jocelyn D. Baluyut, together with its school officials. The donated books aim to support the school's learning resources and encourage students to develop a deeper appreciation for reading.

As a token of appreciation, Dr. Baluyut handed the Certificate of Appreciation to Directress/Principal, S. Maria Lorina A. Jumawan, RVM.

This initiative reflects the school’s commitment to strengthening community partnerships and spirit of service.

With a glimmer of hope and enthusiasm, St. Mary’s Academy of Guagua officially commenced School Year 2026–2027 with the theme, “𝙄𝙜𝙣𝙖𝙘𝙞𝙖𝙣 𝙈𝙖𝙧𝙞𝙖𝙣 𝘾𝙤𝙢𝙢𝙪𝙣𝙞𝙩𝙮: 𝘾𝙝𝙖𝙧𝙩𝙞𝙣𝙜 𝙖 𝘾𝙤𝙣𝙨𝙩𝙚𝙡𝙡𝙖𝙩𝙞𝙤𝙣 𝙤𝙛 𝙃𝙤𝙥𝙚.”

The opening of the school year was highlighted by a Salubong, which warmly welcomed the Ignacian Marians and inspired them to chart their own constellation of hope.

As Ignacian Marians embark on a new journey of hope, they commit themselves to embodying the core values of Faith, Excellence, and Service, and to becoming radiant beacons of hope and love for others.

Excitement filled the gymnasium of SMA-G last Monday, June 08, 2026, as students, personnel, and parents welcomed the Academic Year 2026-2027!

As lights guided these scattered stars back home, a constellation of hope had been formed. Without a doubt, dito sa St. Mary’s Academy of Guagua—masaya! Ano, tara?
