The Guidance Center of St. Mary’s Academy aims primarily to uplift the worth of the individual, to have genuine respect for him as a person created in the image of God endowed with the ability to grow morally, intellectually, socially, physically and psychologically, and to guide him/her become a self-directed dynamic Filipino committed to serve, through progressive guidance and counseling.
Guidance Services
Orientation Service. Adequate orientation should be given to students for their immediate adjustment and to parents for them to be aware of the school’s operation as a Catholic school.
Individual Inventory Service. An organized record of each student containing pertinent information should be available in the Guidance Center anytime.
Counseling Service. It is essential for every school to have an effective counseling program for growing – up persons who may constantly need an accepting and guiding environment.
Testing Service. In assessing individual / group needs, as well as providing a picture of the student’s population, the Guidance Center has a well-organized and efficient Testing Program.
Remedial Service. Remedial services are reserved for students whose learning rate is relatively slow and who have extreme achievement deficits in school subjects which appear to stem from delimiting factors that demand intensive attention.
Enrichment Service. Enrichment program is designed to provide suitable experiences for the advanced or gifted students for the optimum development of their capabilities.
Homeroom Service. A concrete and workable program of activities based on student’s needs (for each level) will provide them a feeling of having a second “home” in school.
Vocation & Career Guidance. All students need assistance for making an effective decision and realistic choice of vocation.
Placement Service. The provision is of great help to determine section or group placement for new as well as old students and to assist them in transferring or applying to another school, especially those entering college.
Follow-Up Service. The follow-up service of the Guidance Program is designed to secure basic information that is important for evaluating and planning the many facets of the school program.
Research & Evaluation. The Guidance Center serves the administrators, faculty and parents to establish /maintain smooth lines of communication which can lead to better coordination of effort in maximizing the educational benefits of all learners.
Career Sharing
The Guidance Center facilitated the Career Sharing among the Grade 10 to Grade 12 students. Select Alumni were invited to share their experiences and expertise. This activity aims to equip students with knowledge about the real world of work.
