A. Institutional Objectives
St. Mary’s Academy of Guagua, an Ignacian Marian school, is committed to provide quality Catholic education and to develop leaders for the service of the Church and society.
B. Departmental Objectives
Kindergarten
After completing the Kindergarten Education, the child must be able to:
demonstrate knowledge and belief of the basic Christian Teachings and recognize God as our loving Father, Jesus as our Brother and Redeemer and all men and women as our brothers and sisters in Christ;
recognize Mary as our Mother and model in dealing with others;
show love of God through others and obedience to parents and elders;
think and do things independently within the limits of his/her degree of maturity;
develop proper study habits;
practice desirable social behavior with his/her peers and others around him/her;
exhibit basic skills in reading, writing, listening, speaking and number concepts that will prepare him/her for formal education.
Grade School (Grades 1 to 6)
After completing the six (6) years of Elementary Education, the pupil must be able to:
acknowledge God as Father and Creator, Jesus as Brother and Redeemer, Mary as Mother, other persons as brothers and sisters in Christ;
show in his/her attitude and behavior, respect and concern for self and others especially the less privileged, the ability to choose right over wrong, love and loyalty for family, school, community, church, country;
communicate efficiently both in oral and written English and Filipino;
utilize meaningful, worthwhile and varied computer programs for productive use;
manifest refinement in bearing, language and manner befitting of a child of God.
Junior High School (Grades 7 to 10)
After completing the four years of Junior High School, the student must be able to:
witness in the daily life that God is the center of his life in terms of faith, decision making and service with Mary as Mother and model and Mother Ignacia del Espiritu Santo as inspiration;
communicate efficiently and effectively both in oral and written English and Filipino;
acquire and apply scientific, mathematical and social concepts, principles, processes, attitudes and skills to adapt to one’s changing environment, to face life’s concerns and issues, to relate harmoniously and to get involved effectively with one’s family, school, community, church and country, as a whole;
live out appreciation of the dignity and capability of the Filipino rich with cultural heritage, spirituality and values;
demonstrate academic competence, skills, habits, attitudes and values necessary to succeed in college or work force;
manifest refinement in bearing, language and manner befitting of a child of God;
identify his vocational aptitudes, abilities, interests and potentials to choose a career or work wisely;
utilize knowledge and skills in competent education for productive use.
Senior High School (Grades 11 to 12)
At the end of the Senior High School, the Ignacian Marians are expected to:
be exposed to an array of communication situations where speaking, listening, and responding skills that may create a persuasive, credible and effective communication can be honed to appreciate and exhibit viability to work in a variety of careers and develop a strong self presentation skills utilizing both the verbal and non-verbal factors to enhance their life of faith to the Almighty, excellence in whatever endeavor and service to others and to God (Oral Communication in Context);
access the plethora of knowledge through critical reading of literary and informative texts to enhance thinking skills, acquire and expand vocabulary, and develop an in-depth love for reading, possess discriminatory competence in selecting worthwhile materials which may develop values for love of country, appreciation of one’s cultural diversity wherein multicultural competence may be achieved, thus making oneself become instrument in manifesting the values of an Ignacian Marian demonstrating faith, excellence and service as he/she engages in communicative situation where strong foundation of wisdom and philosophy in life is needed to become productive and efficient members of the society, citizen of the country and as a citizen of the world (Reading and Writing);

access varied literary genres from the 21st literature from the Philippines and the world for appreciation and critical study, thus, leading the students to be informed and critical individuals that have 1) the ideals of the Filipino thru the years enabling them to live a life of excellence, faith, and service. 2) refined mind and sharpened sense of life as reflected by better understanding and judgment. 3) appreciative attitude towards the multicultural practices and traditions of the Filipinos and that of other people in the world, and 4) gained a better insight into the depth and breadth of the 21st-century literature from the Philippines and the World (21st Century Literature from the Philippines and the World);
appreciate a broad range of styles in the various discipline with consideration on their elements and principles, and be engaged to an integrative approach in studying arts (Contemporary Philippine Arts from the Regions);
acquire a sound understanding about 1) the different types of media to communicate a message, 2) the ways of properly handling information, and 3) the use of technology to enhance the way we send and receive information (Media and Information Literacy);
exhibit competence and appreciation of the fundamentals of mathematics and judicious application of skills and processes towards the formation of critical thinking and sound judgment in solving mathematical problems and as applied in a real-life context (General Mathematics);
exhibit competence and appreciation of the fundamentals of Statistics and Probability and judicious application of skills and processes towards the formation of critical thinking and sound judgment in solving mathematical problems on mean and variances of a random variable, to apply sampling techniques and distributions, to estimate the population mean and proportion, to perform hypothesis testing on the population mean and proportion, and to perform correlation and regression analyses and its application in a real-life context (Statistics and Probability);
uncover the complexities of human existence and dig down into the most fundamental questions that conformed the human person as he/ she journeys through life and understand human existence thereby be able to, not only go through it but live life in its best (Introduction to the Philosophy of the Human Person);
provide a general background for the understanding of the Earth on a planetary scale, origin and history of the Earth through geologic time scale, understand the relationships of these essential concepts to various phenomena, and gain awareness on the importance of conserving and preserving natural resources to display accountability as a steward of God’s creation (Earth Science, STEM);
acquire a general background for the understanding of Earth’s structure, composition, and process, life interactions at the cellular, organism, population, and ecosystem levels; understand the interrelationship of living things to its environment making one appreciate the value of life and preserve nature’s beauty as a way of achieving one’s responsibility as a steward of God’s creation (Earth and Life Science, ABM);
demonstrate and understand the basic disaster and disaster risk concepts, exposure and vulnerability to hazards, apply appropriate measures and interventions before, during, and after exposure to hazards, exhibit scientific attitudes and values to solve problems critically, protect the environment and conserve resources, protect life and enhance its integrity and promote wellness of people. Make informed and unbiased decisions about social issues that involve each of the diverse aspects of science and technology, pollution and recycling, appreciate and preserve the beauty of the natural environment by fulfilling one’s responsibility as a steward of God’s creation (Disaster Readiness and Risk Reduction, STEM);
demonstrate understanding of basic science concepts, apply science process skills, exhibit scientific attitudes and values to solve problems critically, innovate beneficial products, protect the environment and conserve resources, protect life and enhance its integrity and promote wellness of people; make informed and unbiased decisions about social issues that involve each of the diverse aspects of science, appreciate and preserve the beauty of the natural environment by fulfilling one’s responsibility as a steward of God’s creation (Physical Science, ABM);
know and accept their total selves, identify their most immediate and long-term goals in school as they recognize their vision in life, analyze their study habits, attitude, and skills, and assess how they manage their gift of time (Personal Development);
develop an awareness of cultural, social, and political dynamics, and sensitivity to cultural diversity; understand how culture, human agency, society, and politics work, and engage themselves in the examination of the country’s current human development goals (Understanding Culture, Society, and Politics);
